The Remenyi Family
On Maria Remenyi's birth certificate, there is a note saying that the family name RUML was changed to REMENYI.
In accordance with the Regulation Number 115443 from 19.11.1898, from the Ministry of Internal Affairs [the Home Office], the name was changed to "Remenyi"
Presumably, the name Ruml wasn't "hungarian" enough for the authorities !Little is known of the earlier Remenyi families, where they came from, etc.
- Aunt says they lived in Bratislava, Slovakia for a while.
- Josef was born in 1892 in Bratislava (german: Pressburg; hungarian: Poszony)
- Maria was born in 1893 Zilina, Slovakia
- I have some photos of the three Remenyi sisters, Tilde, Annus and Maria, with the
description "Berlin 1916".
- After their marriages, Tilde and Maria lived in Vienna, and Annus in Berlin.
