Hannah Maria Womack died in Icklingham. It is my belief that she stayed
with her
daughter Anna then married to a Newdick when she was dying. This is only
my
surmise. I knew great Aunty Amy Newdick - who married to John Newdick -
when I was a little girl in the early 1950s - she was well into her 80s
then. She had two daughters, Joyce and Jennifer. We used to see quite a
lot
of Joyce (mum's cousin or was that second cousin?!) and her two boys,
Michael and John in the 50s.

m Emma SMITH from Dickleburgh. Frederick was a bit of a wastrel and it
would seem he was given some money early on to clear off to Australia
- which he did,but he then came back at some point and married
Emma Smith (her father was a miller in Dickleburgh - the mill is still
there, though derelict but when I last looked had the old wooden painted
sign
and you could just see W Smith written up there). He was left nothing
in
his father's will, I understand - presumably as he had already had it
in his
youth and spent the lot. He and his wife are buried in Dickleburgh
churchyard close to the war memorial on which their second son Edward's
death is recorded. Frederick and Emma turn up at various farms - they
lived at College Farm Ovington (where
they were in 1891) My grandfather I know lived also at Hazel Dick farm in Kenninghall
(my mother always said he was born there and used to point the farm out to
me when I was small - it is just on the road out of Kenninghall to Harling
etc.)
- In later years my grandfather was given a farm, Grange Farm, and also
had a
parcel of land then called Church Farm next to the church, with a wonderful
Queen Anne House, derelict in the 1950s when I was small and sold by my
grandmohter in the 1960s but which I believe had belonged, in part, to
a
David Reeve. He is shown living at Brick Kiln Farm East Church Street
in
1851 and 1881 (though in 1881 he has considerably more land). Brick Kiln
Farm is -now- in Banham road (I know for sure because my Uncle Geoffrey
Womack lived in a cottage there when he first married in the 60s). It
is my
belief that at some point the farms were split up again that David Reeve
had
amassed and part passed on to my grandfather. Oral history in the family
says Grange Farm was left to Grandad Tom by an aunt who felt sorry for
him
as he had a family and sisters to support and no means of doing it (Grandad
was a farm manager in Marham near Swaffham in his early life). This is
something I must research some time to see if I am right about "Brick
Kiln
Farm" and "Church Farm" being one and the same.
