Shannon Pallant Mark I have traced my PALLANT (Samuel, John, Henry, Thomas and Arthur forenames) ancestors from London back to Samuel born ~ 1720 in Ipswich based on census research and the following to quotations that link Pallant of Ipswich with Middlesex and coachmakers.

"1767 John Pallant, son of Samuel of Ipswich, Suffolk, gentleman, apprenticed to John Thorne of Coachmaker and Harness Maker Company" registered apprentice."

"In 1798 Samuel Pallant, son of John Pallant of St Martin's Middlesex apprenticed to his father of Coachmakers and Harness Makers Company." Registered apprentice."

After several generations of 'coachmaking' in Middlesex my 'John PALLANT born 1811' and several sons left the family occupation to become opticians. Another son, my great grandfather, Arthur PALLANT, 1855, became a dental surgeon in Maidenhead, Berk.

Would your PALLANTs be related to those referred to in the above quotations? I would appreciate any information or redirection regarding this surname. Eager to hear from you.
