Richard Auger (Sept 10)

I am trying to find the parents of William Auger born 1798 in Myland, Colchester, Essex

The information I have from Census records is:

1851: 73 North Street, St Peter Parish, Colchester, Wheelwright

1861: 96 Peacheys Place, Colchester, Wheelwright

He died 29/05/1877 in Union Workhouse, Colchester, Essex

In particular I’d like to know if he was related to the Saffron Walden Augers.

Andrew Auger (Sept 09)

I have traced my family back to a John William Auger (born 06.06.1824 in Camberwell, died 30.04.1891) who married Emma Hinchliffe (born 1820, died 20.01.1887) on 25.08.1844. John William's father was also John. He was born / baptised around 1798 / 1799 (died 10.11.1867 in Newington) and married a Louisa (born 1803 in Surrey, died 23.12.1883). Beyond this I am struggling. Louisa's maiden name may have been Angier, and John may have come from Liskeard. John's parents were John (yet another ! ) and Mary. I have no dates or details about either of them.

I note from your web-site that Auger and Aunger may be variations of the same and I wonder if John (bap 1798/99) and / or his father may have actually had the name Aunge

Bill Mooney (April 2006)

I have an interest in the AUGERS, in Essex, England who were mainly in the Burnham on Crouch area. I have been researching them for a couple of years, my AUGER ancestor is my maternal great grandmother Henrietta Letitia AUGER, 1862-1948.  They were from an Oyster merchant family who also married into many of the local families.  With the help of a researcher in Quebec (not on the net) who is also descended from the same family and who has been researching them and associated families in the area for the last 10 years, the earliest AUGER in our line is RICHARD AUGER who married Elizabeth Bowles in Hazeleigh, Essex c 1749

If anyone would like to have their gedcom file added to the World Auger Gedcom please let me know.  I will take family files in print form but they do take time to enter into the file.  If a gedcom is sent I can simply open it and append it to the present gedcom in minutes. Please consider adding your gedcom to help others on the WWW find you when looking for Augers, etc.

I am the ggrandson of Philibert J. Auger, born in St. Pie, Quebec, Canada, 17 March 1845, served in the Union Army in the 2nd Regiment, COmpany B, District of Columbia Infantry, mustering out as a corporal. He wandered around the country, working as a blacksmith in Bryan, Wyoming.  Bryan was the wintering spot for the transcontinental railroad while it was being built, it no longer exists.

Philibert was married to Margeret Pilon, born July 1847.  They married 4 Mar 1877 in Roxton Falls, PQ.  They had 8 children, Mary Ann was my grandmother on my father's side.  She married Frank Henry King.

Philibert and Margaret are both burried in St. Brigit's Cemetary in Easthampton, Mass, where they lived most of their married lives.  My cousin Joe is the son of their youngest son, Joseph.

My cousin in Connecticuit traced the Auger line to France.  I would like to find others who are from the same line.  I've found one, but there's room for plenty of others.

Sheila Haley

I am researching my HALEY ancestors, and have recently discovered that my 2nd gt. grandfather, Thomas Haley of North Hill, Cornwall, married a Mary Aunger. She may be Mary Pine b. April 3 1808 at Castle Street ,Independent church, Launceston, (f. Richard, Mother Mary), or she may be Mary born 28 June 1807 at Laneast, (f . John, m. Elizabeth).

Edmund A. Aunger

In 1813, he married Elizabeth Tucker at the Linkinhorne Parish Church, Cornwall. Sampson and Elizabeth were the parents of Merina (1813-?), Sampson (1816-?) and Edmund (1819-1874).

Dorcas Aunger

Like Maria Aunger, Diane Batten and Jo Aunger, who are listed researchers, I am working on the Aungers of Cornwall England. I am an amateur genealogist, but have been doing it for over 50 years, and have found over 3000 descendents, their spouses, and parents of spouses, of Thomas Aunger and Jane Pearce, who were married in Davidstow Parish, Cornwall, 19 May 1734. I have followed them from England to Canada and Australia, and am still looking. I wish I could tie into your Aungers, but can't so far. You have a great website.

Tom Angers

I was wondering if any Aunger of this name variation came to the western hemisphere. Isn't this variation pronounced like "ainger". That is the way my New England Angier cousins pronounce it.I descend from a Joseph Angier of Massachusetts. There was a Willian Aunger who was given headrights in 1651 in Norfolk County Va. Apparently he was awared this land for paying for someone to come to the colonies. Would you who that might have been? And do you know anything of William Aunger. Did any of this spelling go to the Carribean. There wer some Angier in Jamaica and Barbadoes. Any relationships? USA

David White

I note from your web page that you are interested in the name Angwin. I can let you have a lot of info. on the family if you want it. Can you accept gedcom files and Word documents ?. I look forward to hearing from you. Roy (in S.Wales)

Tom Angers

William Aunger Jean, There is a WIlliam Aunger listed for headrights (given extra land to person who transported him to colony) for Virginia around 1651. Do you anything of him? Do you know anything of the Anger/Angier/Aunger family of Shrivenham and elsewhere in Berkshire? There is a will for a Humphrey Angier in Jamaiaca around 1750 and I think this same name appears in Berkshire. Do you have any sources to do a lookup on this.? Thanks. Tom Angers Lafayette, Louisiana USA
